In what may be the first surprise release from a country superstar, Eric Church dropped his new EMI Nashville album, Mr. Misunderstood, tonight during the CMA Awards. This livens things up for Friday's chart as he now becomes a contender for #1. Carrie Underwood's Storyteller (19/Arista) is aggressively priced tonight at $5.99 in another bid to take over the top spot. With NOW/UMe's Now 56 trending to 55-60k in our midweek forecast yesterday, the race for #1 seems to be wide open. Stay tuned for updates.

If only Storyteller was discounted earlier Good thing is she has physical CDs + streams on her side
i mean, if she's getting blocked by anyone other than the compilation cd it's much more likely that it's chris, but i'm not even sure that's gonna happen so...
i think it's between chris stapleton (although i have never heard of him) and carrie. glad eric church will (probably) not get it this week serves him well
