Ratings of these shows don't show longevity. The finale of Cheers had nearly 100M viewers, yet no one under the age of 30 has likely ever watched it or even heard of it. Friends only had 52M viewers for its finale, yet it's airing on multiple channels right as I type this, and is likely being watched by families with young children.
