Cool, cause as an artist i have my OWN style, i dont like to copy others.
Well bye everyone I know this looks salty, but i am angry that im being eliminated for NOT copying someones style

Your style isn't the problem here, from what I can tell. Shooting up heroin has nothing to do with the meaning of Pure Heroine. You don't have to copy someone's style to write with their typical themes and concepts.

Um, Madonna, especially in Confessions is the QUEEN of bops! She has a nice mixture of lighthearted ones mixed with those that have meaning.
Do not come for Magde! Love you but I will educate you!

I absolutely adored "Love is the truth/I found living proof" as a line! It's so powerful to think that one person could be all you need to believe in the power of love. As with ceremonials, I also thought your meter was on point!

sis stop. the fact you keep refuting this only adds to how you missed the mark. the challenge asked us to write a song for a title track of your chosen artist and explore the entire album through certain themes and imagery. would conatus submit an ariana song about world hunger? no. your song could be lowkey amazing, but if it wasn't appropriate for pure heroine in what it suggested and explored, then you shouldn't be surprised you got dragged.

YOU TWO MIGHT BE THE LAST ONES. I am going to be leaving here shortly.
@conatus: It was different from your usual style. It was digestable, but almost watered down to be so. I liked the song, being that I like easy to grasp lyrics a lot of the time, but I would've loved for it to feel like you.
@Niko: You had an interesting concept with decent execution. It wasn't on the level of your last entry oy anything, but it was still a solid effort.

Tbh, I don't understand why all the judges hate my word choices, I chose every single word on purpose, everything adds some meaning to the song.

Like I said, I was really glad you explained your album, but I also like how you explained some of your imagery, because it was a really intriguing idea to put into a song. I thought your imagery was beautiful, and I saw no glaring problems with meter, so on that front you succeeded!

I think the worst part of this challenge isn't the having to write in the vain of another artist, but the fact that some judges know the albums better than others, if at all.
And it would be really difficult to base an entire album's themes and style off of a few songs/the singles to determine whether or not it "fits". I don't know.

Does it fit the album: This was definitely more UA or TTT, as GS said. An obvious approach that I thought surely would be done was listening to loud music and having a good time. It'd better capture the essence of that album without actually rewriting an existing song on the album (with this being very akin to S&M).
|
First of all, although this one was inspired by Roc Me Out, which is on TTT, half of the songs on Loud (not just S&M, but also Skin and Only Girl, for example) are about sex, and I couldn't agree less with the statement that it is a rewriting of S&M as it is - as the title says - about sado-maso sex, while mine is simply about sex and enjoying it.
If I went with the approach of listening to loud music and feeling good, would've definitely not fit the album, as only Cheers is about party and fun on the whole record. Also, it would've come across extremely cheesy if I'd have done that.

Being *that* judge who knows like...3 of the albums, I agree. I felt so guilty trying to judge how well you guys fit an album when I haven't even heard them myself, and it feels really unfair to you guys. I can understand if you guys disagree with what little I said about your songs.

I'm sure it is.

@BlueM None of the songs are *specifically* about having fun, no - but it's a light-hearted album as a whole, which is why I said a song like that would be better for this challenge. LOUD already had sex songs going for it.

That wasn't shade at you by the way. There are albums, say, Sam and GotSkill know better than lovesong and Meowster, and vice versa, for example.

I imagine this round would work better with less people, so the judges have less albums to know intimately.

!!!
If there were less albums the judges didn't know, they'd have more time to give them a listen to help base their opinion. But if there's so many albums that the judges just aren't familiar with, that isn't realistic.
