My phone is loaded with predictable, super generic, and even ReDone/Pitbull-featured songs from early 2010s, while I wouldn't listen to an urban song from more than 6 months ago (let alone the 20th century) if you kill me.

Not really. This year we had Diplo and JB bring it back, all it needed was a fresh sound. Dance is never leaving now, Americans have had a taste for it and won't ever get enough.

The EDM-pop of recent times has been very melody-based (even the beats, mostly based on riffs) which helps it age well.

I definitely didn't realize it in time, but Skrillex has a magical and completely unique sound.

Zedd, Dr. Luke, Calvin, Avicii, David Guetta and the rest of the crew are over and not seeing the constant popularity they once had in US ever again (not really mad though).

Handful of huge artists who do Pop music (ala Bieber) will use the genre in their productions and get hits time to time, but the days where the EDM artists themselves were getting hits isn't really getting that big again.
