I said they were fads of rock music. They only got popular because of the sudden boom in rock music in the early 00s and are now forgotten and not used by anybody. Their albums had no impact and are useless.
So now New Metal/Alternative Metal has more appeal than BUBBLE GUM POP PRODUCED BY MAX MARTIN?
It's simply better music, and people like it more, simple. I'm gay btw and some of my gay friends like them too so I don't get your point.
At one point, it clearly did. Maybe not as marketable as pop, but more popular in a sense. It was (and still is) more socially acceptable to be a SOAD fan and buy their album than to be a Britney fan.
My question remains. I'd guess the only popular female songs from the '90s with bigger streaming numbers are IWALY and My Heart Will Go On.
