Here's mine based on Sia's 1000 Forms of Fear The verse style was supposed to be kinda rushed a la Chandelier, but a huge meaningful chorus with the overall imagery of drinking, drugs and the trauma Sia has experienced with the death of her partner.
1000 Forms of Fear
Any drug or anyone that could take the pain away
Inject new love for a brand new high that could hide me from my shame
Any powder or any drink that could distract me tonight
Shot by shot ’til I can’t stand up and I’m too passed out to cry
You’re gone, and I can’t really fix it
Don’t wanna let you go
You’re gone, and I don’t understand it
Wish I could let you go
I don’t know, how to be alone
I’ve never had to figure it out
I don’t know, how to be without you
I’m terrified that you’re not around
One love (one love), one death (one death)
Thousands and thousands of tears
One you (one you), one death (death)
Another thousand forms of fear
One thousand forms of fear
One thousand forms of fear
(One thousand forms of)
Any man who can make me feel something other than pain
Then I wake up with somebody else and pray for a new day
Another bender and another drunk night then maybe I’ll be fine
One lover here and one lover there and line after line after line
You’re gone, and I can’t really fix it
Don’t wanna let you go
You’re gone, and I don’t understand it
Wish I could let you go
I don’t know, how to be alone
I’ve never had to figure it out
I don’t know, how to be without you
I’m terrified that you’re not around
One love (one love), one death (one death)
Thousands and thousands of tears
One you (one you), one death (death)
Another thousand forms of fear
One thousand forms of fear
One thousand forms of fear
(One thousand forms of)
I’m losing more than I know
Lost you, lost my soul
I’m losing all control
Miss you, miss your love
Anything to keep me occupied
Anything to help me live the lie
That somehow you’re still with me
Somehow you still love me
I miss your love
I don’t know, how to be alone
I’ve never had to figure it out
I don’t know, how to be without you
I’m terrified that you’re not around
I don’t know, how to be alone
I’ve never had to figure it out
I don’t know, how to be without you
I’m terrified that you’re not around
One love (one love), one death (one death)
Thousands and thousands of tears
One you (one you), one death (death)
Another thousand forms of fear
One thousand forms of fear
One thousand forms of fear
(One thousand forms of)

Okay, here's mine. The meter is kind of messed up in parts especially the outro but i think with artists like Florence especially, it's more about the concepts and the content than the craft. The structures of her songs are usually very weird and cluttered, but her voice and "The Machine" and her melodies just make it work. Her lyrics are more about telling a story than being catchy or flowing well, though some of them do both of those very well. Or is this all just a misdirection so the judges will give me a better score? Stay tuned.
ceremonials
verse 1:
A man who's pure of heart
Is a man who's free of sin
How could a man be faithful
If he let the Devil in?
Into a village full of priests
And of other worldly saints
The heresy had been unspoken
And so they tied him down with chains
Chorus:
He was a martyr, frozen in space
Like a warrior, the blood on his face
Like an angel, fallen from grace
A heretic, burned at the stake
The smoke cleared
He shouted out testimonials
Of an innocent man
And his lonely ceremonials
Verse 2:
Now the devil walks in the streets
And nobody even has a clue
Because he looks like all of us
It could be me or it could be you
The devil of the town was born
As soon as they struck the match
They saw the inferno in his eyes
And knew they couldn't go back
Chorus 2x
Outro:
So where is your God, now?
Will he answer you,how?
Could you watch your village burn down?
Who's a heretic now?
Is it making sense now?
That all your saints are on trial?
Who's the devil here now?
That you're on trial
Waiting til the flames burn out

All entries have been forwarded onto the judges, except for Keshafied who hasn't submitted yet.
I'll do my best to judge all of the songs within the next couple of hours and have comments posted as it looks like we might reach page 500.

Going to read the entries now so hopefully I'll get comments done soon. 30 should be a lot easier to read than 50.

Here's mine. It was interesting to do an upbeat song, but I channeled Cher and I hope I paid homage to her well.
Living Proof
by Moonchild
Genre: Dance-pop
[Intro]
I've found living proof, living proof, living proof
[Verse 1]
My wings were broken, I bled on the ground
I struggled alone, broken and scarred
You rescued me when no soul was around
You were light in all of my dark
[Chorus]
I know where I am, I forget where I've been
This moment is all I've ever imagined
Kiss after kiss, I know love is the truth,
I've found living proof, living proof, living proof
[Verse 2]
Move through the dark and forget about time
I can see starlight in your eyes
Your hands move to mine, bodies intertwine
Right here in your arms, I could die
[Chorus]
I know where I am, I forget where I've been
This moment is all I've ever imagined
Kiss after kiss, I know love is the truth,
I've found living proof, living proof, living proof
[Bridge]
Let's jump, take flight and leave this world behind
Soar and become interstellar
Don't ever look down as long as you're mine
Journey and live free together
[Chorus]
I know where I am, I forget where I've been
This moment is all I've ever imagined
Kiss after kiss, I know love is the truth,
I've found living proof, living proof, living proof
[Outro]
You're my living proof, living proof, living proof

I can't concentrate on my song any more, found out someone I had a thing for moved on and now I'm hating on myself so much. I'm guttered and can't work on my song, I quit.

I'm not as familiar with Florence as I should be, but I like the story and questions that you posed here and I trust it's a lot like her style.

I get what you're going for, and I like it. The length of the song and the way you do the verses works for a Sia song. I like how you directly tied in her past lover's death.
