Seeing as Ariana is still new in the pop music scene, getting bad callout scores for the lead single is not good I feel like people will either love or hate the chorus. It's really gimmicky and that doesn't always work. Especially with Adele out right now who is anti-gimmicks
It's kind of going for the 'so bad it's good effect'. It'll definitely be a grower though.
Also Demi had poor callout scores and her single still went #3 on radio so she'll be fine.
Ariana is a big enough artist at this point to warrant studio time with the actual Max Martin. His protégées do good work when they work with him, but THAT CHORUS is what happens when you turn them loose.
the chorus is fine on second listen I think its fine the song slays
The public ain't going to force themselves to like a song
