Christina's an icon no doubt but she could have been a legend by now and she isn't because of all the bad decisions she made with her career.
Beyonce wasn't the best dancer during her DC3 days but she got a great choreographer and even though she doesn't come close to Janet, Ciara or Britney 1998-2003 she's definitely top 5.
Christina could have done that too and Christina actually has soul in her voice. Had she come out with a beyonce esque Dangeriosly in love image her 2nd album or back to basics image she probably would have been a legend by now.
She reinvents herself too hard.
She went from the pop girl that had vocals debut
To the raunchy dirrty girl 2nd era
To a throwback era 3rd era
To a "futuristic" era 4th era
To whatever lotus is supposed to represent.
Keep her debut era as is
throw in a back to basics or beyonce dangerously in love era 2nd era
then reinvent to a more latin pop flavored era 3rd
then pop rock 4th era
then do a jazz pop or urban record or something
She could have reinvented herself correctly and things would have resulted differently
I remember the reviewers of her tour talking about justin upstaging her because his set was more mature and hers was a mess.
She really played herself and made it easy for Shakira to dominate latin pop, Beyonce to dominate r&b, Pink to dominate pop rock (although Pink still would have won) and Britney to dominate pop (although Britney still would have won)...
As much as I got a kii at the time, RIGHT NOW seeing all these little girls dominate at c list level and take influences from her and Britney makes me appreciate Christina more.
It also reminds me that she could have been legendary had she not made so many bad "reinvention" and "attitude" decisions early in her career.
