The question is not whether Hasley is black or not, but whether her skin tone exempts her from the same disadvantages faced by black people who can never pass themselves off as white. She might be biologically black but I am speaking from a social point of view.

The term "black" isn't literal. It's used a lot interchangeably with "African American". Regardless if you are pale, tan, bronze, caramel or chocolate. If you are half African American you are still African American?
