The hilarious thing about Adele's numbers, is that the #10 is STILL predicted to be below 60K this week even with her history making numbers.
So much for "Adele is saving the industry" and the average person thinking that a song doing nearly 1M would give the other top songs some kinda boost. People are literally dusting off iTunes, buying her song, getting nothing from nobody else, and logging right back off. It's all her winning.

Haha, I was recently reading about Right Round and how it was recorded.
It all came from an idea by someone at Atlantic who wanted his artist Flo Rida to rap over a song based on a sample from the Dead Or Alive Song, 'You Spin Me Right Round (Like A Record)'. Bruno Mars actually tried to write the song based on this idea but it didn't work out as a finished song. Then Dr Luke and Kool Kojak took over and wrote the music in terms of the actual beats. Apparently they got inspired to come up with the chorus Right Round because Flo Rida came into the studio and his entourage contained a stripper with a big ass, and it was her ass that inspired the hook and the title! LOL
When they went to get Kesha to sing her chorus on the hook, she had been drinking. So she was actually drunk when she went into the studio to sing her part on the track! LMAO
Although her part is a fundamental part of the song, Kesha didn't earn anything from the song. The stripper who inspired the song was called Cubana Lust (stripper name).
Amazing that it all came together to have such a high opening sales week.
I am pretty sure Adele's single wasn't recorded in quite the same way! LOL

That was the sales figure in January 2013.
Then it got a huge boost from Golden Globe/Oscars that year and remained in the top 100 for quite a bit. It was around 2.3m by the beginning of 2014.

RHI is around 2.3-2.4 million, or it was a couple of months ago. At that time, I think Chasing Tables was just under 1 million.

35. Gwen Stefani - Used to Love You
Poor Gwendoline, she was the big comeback story last week. Cant believe how fast its plummeted I honestly thought it would be a bit of a mini smash.

Her "saving the industry" has never been about what she does for other acts but what her sales bring to the overall tally. Just like 21 did for 2011-12 overall sales. Without it, they'd have seen continued sharp declines...
Hello already adding an easy 1 million downloads to falling sales in 2 full weeks is quite exceptional. 25 will do the same and probably bring album sales from falling to rising in 2015 as well.
