Bieber's song is so big for him, and such a big comeback after people thought he'd be gone with Journals.
Unfortunately it's a Elephant going against a Mammoth.

i think billboard will probably come out with a prediction sometime in the next few days, so that might give us a bit of a better idea of what's going to happen (since billboard isn't exactly perfect, but has more immediate access to sales figures than HDD)

Yes. On Tuesday we should get something I think. They always make an article when a song has the chance of debuting at #1.

hmmm, i just checked and for comparison's sake, shake it off's max lead in its first week (at around this time since its release) was the #2 being at .3365. except that she was competing with all about that bass, which sold 283,000 that week, so the competition was stronger. i guess justin's song is probably selling not that much less than that, but if the 242,000 prediction is right then it's still a bit weaker.
actually, i think i have a better comparison. bang bang was at #3 that week with .1638, and it sold 159,000, which is probably not that far away from how much hotline bling will sell this week. adele's lead over drake is significantly stronger than that, so that might be a good sign for her.
this is just me analyzing, though. i guess i can't be sure what will happen until later in the week, but i think she has a chance to at least beat taylor's 544,000.

Difference is All About That Bass and Bang Bang were fairly stable through the whole week, because there were older songs.
Bieber's song is much higher now and will go down rest of the week and same for Hotline Bling. He still is a bit lifted from the video boost and will go down rest of the week.
Adele's lead is MUCH stronger than Shake It Off had, but we also had the rule change with the insta grat, complete my album stuff that will substract some sales for Hello.
