I am almost 100% positive his hate for Iris is mostly-justified (though his actions obviously aren't). There's a bunch of signs that she was a terrible mom, despite clearly loving her son.

How was the episode mediocre? The elevator scene was amazing. Gabriel killing Claudia was terrifying. Will getting hot for Tristan AND the Countess. Ramona's outrageous story. Alex finding Holden.
It wasn't as racy as the past two episodes but it was definitly a pivot for the next two weeks.
