WYB is not defined by its chart success anyway, like most ICONIC songs, it is a classic now and at the time won an Oscar and helped Whitney and Mariah slay even harder, of course Whitney was on her last successful studio album in 1998 and had already become a legend. She also had 2 miscarriages at the time.

Mariah was in her #1s era so they were in different places in life.
