It's a cult classic. A modern feminist anthem. So it'll live on forever.

Just heard "Perfect" from One Direction.
The fact that it's safer and more reductive than a Katy Perry "Roar" song. Yikes. It's so sacchrine and shamelessly crafted for pop radio. Not offensive. Not interesting. Just all-around forgettable. Mindless tweens, cool moms, and Hoda Kotb and Kathy Lee will like this song, but it won't destroy Justin Bieber. I can''t wait until One Direction are brutally murdered in a hotel room.

I can see Christina Perri's signature ballads being more relevant in the future than Adele's

She got that 1988 Mariah Carey hair, very rare.

Mariah being featured in 2 hits of 2015 (even if they're by the biggest jokes ever). + being in This Is How We Do in 2014. What a legend.

I don't think you can really gauge which songs are going to be classics by their chart performance.
Too many of our favorite songs flopped when they came out.

i'd want to say midnight city, 212, love on top, climax, runaway, feels like we only go backwards, latch, turn down for what, the suburbs and swimming pools too but i'm not sure they're successful enough (although many songs that weren't particularly successful can become classics through critical and public recognition)

Beiber came too strong. He kinda showed why he'll always be better than One (musical) Direction.

You could probably add Maroon 5 to the list

! Like Thriller peaking at #4.
If an artist is smart or the public wills it, they can turn even a dud into a classic. Like the gays did with It's Raining Men which peaked at #48.

The superior Christina's ballads are always on the radio. I don't use ballads but Jar Of Hearts is an incoming classic.

Pretty much the definition of a middling hit becoming a classic. It keeps getting bigger and bigger as time goes by

i think it's only really sensible to deem whether a song is a classic around ten years after it's been released. anything earlier and you're basically going to list the biggest hits you remember from the past few years

466 Usher Yeah! (feat. Lil Jon & Ludacris)
Classic that has never left the T500 of iTunes, and sold 4.5M despite being a hit before digital sales happened.

Wayment @ bluth Trap Queen is a modern classic. When songs are BIG in the black community and white community, they become classics.
