I get what you're saying, but tbh at the same time, I think it's an interesting take to have an outsider's take.
We've all gotten used to each other's styles and we know the technicalities behind songwriting. But a hit needs to connect to people who don't write songs too - I don't think it works as a concept for live singing and Ellen, but I think for a written song contest where most participants are largely aware of current top 40 hits, it's not necessarily too left field. I think it's fair to say most people of ATRL know what a hit sounds like.
I do get your criticisms though.
Edit: Didn't see Sam reply and I wasn't giving a lecture, just trying to say I thought it was interesting to continue it. I don't speak for the entire competition but personally, I wanna see what people who don't know the intracacies think.
No, this is good. If I didn't want people to see and reply to my thoughts I wouldn't have posted them
I do also know that a few people feel the same way I do and I wanted to give them a voice since they might not want to speak up about it
