Energy she’s got, and it’s electric. Selena Gomez’s album is filled with catchy electro house hipster productions everywhere from Kill Em With Kindness, Hands To Myself and Survivors which will in our opinion definitely be a club hit. Unlike any of her past albums Gomez is more vocally exposed with a more organic sound, with lots of space and reverb. A lot of the slower tracks on the album such as Nobody and Sober really bring out a beautifully dark tone that is highly addictive and dangerous.
“Revival” is a powerful response to her critics, and the message is heard loud and clear: Selena is back, and she’s not letting anyone else speak for her.
No, Selena does not have the best vocals in the music business. But she has a star quality, and always has. And her talent cannot be denied. It seems that this transition from teenage star to sexy young woman has worked well for her. A “Revival,” indeed.
You may have disregarded Gomez back in her Disney days. You may have disregarded her last album as wannabe rubbish. But with ‘Revival’ she’s finally hit the jackpot. And if she’s following Britney’s trajectory, there’s still plenty more to come.
And there you have it – a true rebirth from one of pop’s most authentic personalities. ‘Revival’ marks the next step in Selena Gomez’s recording career. At its core, ‘Revival’ is a statement record about letting go, not one that that contains blue-print, trend chasing, bubblegum pop songs that she’s known for. Throughout the record, Selena explicitly tackles her insecurities and finds her inner strength to grow, to become more grounded, and to be reborn. It took a lot of digging and courage for Selena to get to this point and it’s just the beginning. This may be a revival, but we’ve never heard Selena more alive and we’re ready for more.
I really can't take this Brittany Spanos on Rolling Stone seriously.
She gave this and Honeymoon 4/5 and Adam Lambert's The Original High a 3/5. And it's not that I think The Original High is an amazing album by any means, but Adam has a flawless voice and arguably a better album. So I don't understand...

4/5
The Observer is a part of The Guardian. They linked to the correct review, which gave the album 3/5 stars. That other "Observer" which gave her a 3.5/5 does not count towards Metacritic.
