In my history class, a student came in sporting a T-shirt that had a yearbook photo of Hilary with the caption underneath: "YAAAS, HILARY!!"
My professor saw it and spent the next ten minutes chatting about the debate.

Trump beats both Jeb & Marco Rubio in FLORIDA amongst LATINOS
Quote:
It’s also quite surprising that Trump has managed to become more popular than Bush or Rubio among Florida Latino voters in wake of his anti-immigration rhetoric. Trump, who advocates the building of a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border and deporting all 11 million undocumented residents, actually trounces Bush among Hispanic voters, 37 percent to 29 percent, according to a September Public Policy Polling survey.

What benzene said. As an aside, as a (half/whatever) Latino, I detest how immigration and Latin issues are treated as being synonymous. The Latino experience is a lot more than what most politicians and the media largely diminish it to; a conveyor belt of (undocumented) immigrants coming into the country, which both republican and democratic candidates do when they answer what they will do for Latinos by going straight to their immigration policy. The US has a lot more than just Latino immigrants, and you can have a harsh stance on immigration while being favorable to Hispanics in other ways. Is Trump specifically? Not at all, but it is very much possible.

I am still so proud of Hillary.
She reminded me of why I go so hard for her.

2) No one is saying online polls are definitively indicative of what will happen in an election, of course they are unreliable. But when virtually every single poll and focus group had Bernie "winning" the debate with varying margins (from CNN/Time and dozens of others, to conservative polls like Fox/Drudge), and all of the focus groups so far favored Sanders at least slightly, it definitely seems suspect that, paradoxically, there is unanimous consensus among the mainstream media that Hillary "dominated" "eclipsed Sanders", and so on. Should these polls be on headlines and given the treatment as national/primary/otherwise credible scientific polls? No, but it at the very least begs the question of why a site should even poll it's viewers if it is a waste of bandwidth that should never be referenced even in passing, and that the opinions of their own viewers don't even warrant a footnote in any of the articles I've read so far.

1) My tone was not abrasive, so um okay?
2) No. The polls mean literally nothing and I actually do believe they're a gross waste of bandwidth. Focus groups aren't much better (and aren't all significantly in favor of Bernie).
The thing separating the media and those other two things is that there tend to be educated, experienced people behind these articles. They might not be statistically valid as data either, but their sole point is not (unlike surveys) to be just that.
The only time you're going to know the GP response to any degree at all is when we have about another week's worth of actual polling.

true, but you would think they would gravitate towards Rubio.

That's true too. I hate that the Trump phenomenon is reinforcing the stereotype that all Latinos are illegal or illegal adjacent

Yeah, that always annoyed me. My ex's family actually refuses to vote for anyone who makes the two issues synonymous.
And it's always annoyed me how legal immigrants always get the shaft in the immigration debate as well.

Can someone explain Webb to me? Because having seen the debate, I don't even get why he was there.

I was actually just reading the CSM article about him. Seems like he just doesn't really fit in anywhere.
The amount of booing he got from the crowd I was viewing it with

He's just so... off.
I don't think he's going to get that far, honestly. I don't even know if he'll make it to the Iowa Caucus (same with Chafee).
Nobody I know liked him or his responses.

'I thought a couple of them were ridiculous'
I think one of the things that makes Trump so funny is that he says dramatic things, casually. With no exasperation in his voice. Similarly to Chelsea Handler or Nicole Richie. One of my favorite comedic methods.

Let's talk about polls for a second - does anyone see how significantly Biden changes things?
In the recent Morning Consult poll, which doesn't include him, the basic trend is: Clinton 54%, Sanders 22%, and Undecided 15%.
The YouGov/Economist poll has Clinton 48%, Sanders 23%, and Biden 20%.
He takes nearly all undecided voters when he's thrown in the mix (though still doesn't damage Hillary excessively, and she's once again gaining in the polls). But without him, Hillary has an astounding lead still.
I honestly hope he doesn't run, because all I see that doing is fracturing things and throwing the nomination totally up in the air. I also see him hurting Bernie in the end; the debates will become wars between Clinton and Biden and Bernie could risk getting run over. If he runs, it could become a low key **** show (though still miles more put-together than the GOP field still).

He was very right for the rest of the liberals on the stage. It was a strange contrast.
CSM was actually talking about how he might fit in more on the Republican stage It would just emphasis this mess of a primary season if he up and switched parties.
