He was literally a rockstar. The enthusiasm for him from ALL corners of the Democratic party was unmatched, and it showed in his fundraising, rallies, and ground operations. His 2008 campaign was comparable to 80s Michael Jackson in terms of stardom. Whenever I hear the comparisons I roll my eyes a bit.

2008 Campaign Obama was the best politician of my lifetime, I don't think I'll ever see anything like that version of him again.

My thoughts on Bernie: I'm not going to consider him until he comes up with a concrete plan about how he will get these radical things (great things IMHO) like free tuition and taxation against the rich/ending corruption in the banks and in the political sphere by just saying he will do it. He would have a Republican congress that would override every great thing he'd try to implement. If he did too many or too large executive motions, then we would be facing an even deader Congress than the past four or five years and screw over the next election.

I wish he would close 2016 on an exciting note despite the election but I feel like he doesn't have the energy anymore :/

A lot of them really seem to think he's a magician. Tumblr posts and meme's have completely shaped their political opinions.

I doubt she'd have been able to say that if it weren't for Bernie sticking up for her like that. I guess it was the morally right thing to do (focus on the politics, not the media fluff) but idk if it was a right move tactically for him.

2016 is the year of Hillary the Inevitable, and 2020 will be the year of Hillary the Incumbent. 2024 will bring new challenges, energy, and enthusiasm to the Democratic nominee field.

It wasn't. However, like Lose My Breath has pointed out, it wasn't entirely a bad move from him - it'll make him seem likeable and it's already been well received. The only problem for him is that it essentially helps to free her of being held responsible by other Dem candidates and legitimizes her stance on the emails.

I hope by 2024 there will be a more progressive Republican Party and that the Tea Party movement will finally be at an end. I'm so fatigued by the extremism and fixation on gays, abortion, planned parenthood, and the like they've had for the past few decades now.

I, too, think we could and will get someone amazing on the left.

I think if Bernie supporters would take that energy and put it into someone electable (Hillary), that would set the stage for 2024 and Congress. The idealism is good but we also need a sense of realism. It is unfathomable how tragic it would be if we lost this to Republicans. I genuinely think it would be terrible for the country, party aside.

Our (left wing) Fitzgerald Grant is coming.
