Thanks local "Local" town criers for once again proving that your ignorant, misinformed and incorrect statements are based simply on sales and lack of knowledge.
And what is this about a person not being a legend because YOU never heard their music before So, I guess for most of this forum, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Beethoven, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Chuck Berry are not legendary either.
This is a POP music forum, so please stop trying to make stanning for POP girls on a POP forum seem stupid. Also most of the members here are under 25 so why would we know of artist from before 1983?
Because you have an abundance of internet sources to educate yourself. I was born in 1992, yet I am familar with artists dating back to the fifties. You just reaffirmed to me how ignorant you and the rest of this forum is by saying "why would we know of artists before 1983?" Given you are on a music and pop culture forum, there is no excuse for such limited musical knowledge in 2015.

KingKunta's second mention of Madonna in this thread You're pressed sis?
OT: she's not a legend, she's an icon. didn't she get like that BET dance icon award? lol
Girl you have been all in this thread trolling. You just happen to from the fanbase the likes to diminish other female stars accomplishments, Mariah and Janet in particular.

Stanning for pop girls, on a pop forum isn't stupid, but if that's the extent of your musical knowledge..... well......
Mess at people in here saying its 'ignorant' to not think Janet is a Legend. I love Janet and think she is a Legend but I literally could not name one of her songs before I came on here and researched her and got into her discography. That's only bc I have an interest in pop music. The average person from this generation outside of the US will not know many (if any) Janet songs. Literally the other day I was telling my friends to listen to Unbreakable by Janet and get into the masterpiece Damn Baby and literally everyone in the chat said 'who?' I had to say 'Jackson, Michael Jacksons sister' for them to understand. I know all you basics will quote me and say 'Your friends =/= GP' but the truth is no teenagers in Australia really know of Janet. Which is a shame bc she makes great music
Then you are literally saying that it's only ignorance that leads to the belief that she is not a legend.

And the same can be said for a majority of these poser children Madonna fans that didn't get into her until people started talking **** about gaga. You all got online, forced yourself to download all of her albums, and picked them apart choosing the most obscure ones to be your favorite so you seem legit. Now why dont people do that with Janet? Because she has not been double fisted into your asses like Madonna has where everyones brainwashed to believe shes the be all end all of pop music. Janet rivaled her for years until the superbowl incident stunted her career.

.....Just because he didn't tour globally doesn't mean people not residing in the US didn't buy his music. Why don't you go check his receipts and then come back to me with the "local" excuse if you're still not convinced
During his lifetime, Elvis was not nearly as popular globally as he is today. And the majority of his sales were US based. His albums didn't even chart in most countries outside the US. The only reason he is as known as he is today is because of his death, the propaganda that was his life, the excess memorabilia that has been distributed since his death and the white media calling him "The King" giving him credit for what black artists has done. And because you all rely on what's given to you instead of doing your own research, it was easy for historians to warp your minds into believing he was this global, ubiquitous phenomenon. When in actuality he was a marginally talented, local artist.
