I prefer Red Light too!
It's more powerful and direct than Pink Tape but they're both pretty great representations of f(x).

Yeah, I definitely would recommend something more along the lines of Death Note, Monster or Akame Ga Kill! if someone was new to anime. Madoka is very abstract and hard to digest but it's difficult to fault it for that.
I had the same exact situation but reversed. I kept telling my friend to watch Madoka but she couldn't be bothered because it looked too cute. If only she knew...
