I can barely wrap my head around all of this. It's overwhelming and demented but so FANTASTIC. It hasn't even slowed down at all to give any of us a chance to breathe.

you can say that
All of these
Amazing first episode. Rewatching it now. The season seems promising. Gaga blew me away as always.
Dissappointed in the first episode. Once again Ryan puts in so much effort to be different it just shows how hard he tries. There aren't really any good characters that I can relate to and the places and scenes are disturbing on a level way past just horror. Most of the clips made absolutely no sense and it wouldn't surprise me if they never explained some of the things that happened.
Overall just a mash up of horrific things that move in every other direction instead of focusing on a plot.

Exactly but I think every successful tv show should have characters that the viewers can relate to. I guess the Officer is kind of relatable but why the hell did he book a room in the hotel? Makes zero sense.

so he could be nearer the killer and find out who he is
The direction was bad. The writing was horrid. The editing was off. They have a lot to improve with this because this is one of my biggest disappointments of the year. The only good thing was the policeman storyline, but the rest of the episode made no sense. They assumed we knew the characters, why did they decide to open the season halfway through? It didn't work.
If this doesn't redeem itself next week it has potential to be the worst season yet. What a way to ruin another series, Ryan Murphy.

My guess is that he is returning because he saw Holden so he feels an attraction to the hotel.
That scene where the guy in the mask and the drill penis was so beyond unnecessary. It was not even disturbing in a horror sense it was more disturbing that someone would THINK of that idea and materialize it into an actual scene.
I'm praying for Ryan Murphy and his insanely corrupt mind.
