I like La Roux. Her (their?) latest album was alright but I recently deleted it from iTunes after a big cleanup. I loved "Bulletproof" though!

As someone who hates Taylor and Loves Kesha, I'm still gonna disagree! Particularly, URIL (just because none of the other Swifties claim it) is better!

Name (what should we call you?): GotSkill, Jack, Jackson
Songwriting experience: I've been writing since before I COULD write, but started writing seriously about 3 and a half years ago. Since then I've taken some songwriting classes and written with other songwriters to help further my abilities.
PH experience: Runner up season 5, Host season 6, Top 10 season 7, Judge season 8
Favorite artists: Katy Perry, Imagine Dragons, Skylar Grey, Bastille, Kacey Musgraves, Bad Suns, Twenty One Pilots
Songwriting style: indie rock, indie pop, indie folk
Have you bought Cannonball by Skylar Grey on iTunes?: Yes
|
Name (what should we call you?): Hugamari, Hug, Thug, any other bastardization of Hug you can think of.
Songwriting experience: Before the first season of Platinum Hit, I'd already written a decent amount of songs just for fun (I'd like to say somewhere in the teens), but being with PH through every season really helped me grow as a songwriter.
PH experience: 6th Place (S1), Winner (S2), Host (S3), 4th Place (S4), Judge (S5), Judge (S6), 7th Place (S7), Judge (S8)
Favorite artists: Main faves: Kesha, Rihanna*, Loreen, Mia Martina (* - if she ever gets her **** together)
Current flavors: XO-IQ, Tinashe, A*M*E, random Dance/Club Play Chart girls
Songwriting style: Very pop-focused most of the time, focused on catchy and easy-to-digest lyrics. Stress on meter and flow, and utilizes techniques such as alliteration and internal rhyme to add to the catchiness.

Name: Element
Songwriting experience: I have written ideas for songs and simple lyrics on and off throughout my life. PH6 was my first time really putting down lyrics to paper, per se.
PH experience: 5th Place - Season 6, 26th Place - Season 7 (my ARTPOP era)
Favorite artists: Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry, Felicia Barton, Bastille
Songwriting style: Pop, mostly. In the past my style has been criticized as being generic, and I'm interested to see if my lyrics have grown at all since one year ago when I competed in PH6.
Have you bought On My Mind by Ellie Goulding on iTunes?: Yes, and you should too!

Yeah I didn't win on my first attempt. Keep that in mind @ everyone, you might be scared of doing worse, but you could end up doing better!

Name (what should we call you?): Kworb
Songwriting experience: I used to write a lot of poetry as a teen and then wrote song lyrics for various ATRL games many years ago. I'm old now and I haven't written anything in a long time, that's why I joined to see if I still can.
PH experience: None
Favorite artists: Tiziano Ferro, Utada Hikaru, Nightwish, Darren Hayes
Songwriting style: I was always inspired by Nightwish so my songs were very dark and epic, and often written as duets. But I can write pop songs as well. I expect my new songs to be less dramatic, as I'm a more mellow and positive person than I was ten years ago.
A sample of your songwriting:
Existence Denied
Mother
What would I have become, without you
Would I have made a difference to the world
If you had wanted me to
Mother, can you see me
Can you look into the eyes that you decided
Were not meant to be
Go away
I could not face you then and cannot now
(I've never been but dead)
I'll have to find a way
To fight the pain inside me, somehow
(Was born in you, instead)
I can't undo what's done
I cannot put the blame
If I had to choose again
Would I choose to do the same?
You killed me
(There was no way)
Removed long ago but I still bleed
(There was no way)
And I know you did, what you thought was right
(There was no way)
I know that my existence was denied
But you'll always hear me cry for you at night
I did all that's done
I'm the only one to blame
But if I had to choose again
I'd do the same
You killed me
(Out of love)
Removed long ago but I still bleed
(I'm out of love)
And I know you did, what you think was right
I know that my existence was denied
But you'll always hear me cry for you at night
You'll always hear me cry for you at night
Charmander
I see her every day
She belongs to another
But her brown eyes
Aren't like any other
We're incompatible
That's what they say
Water and fire
Night and day
Yet she's the one
Who keeps my fire burning
Makes my days brighter
With the moves that she's learning
Chorus:
Simply a battle tryin' to know her well
I'm a softy and she has a shell
It drives me crazy, my world's going hectic
Even her words are super effective
I breathe fire, but she is well trained
Makes one move and all I do is faint
I don't know if I'll ever understand her
Cause she's a Squirtle, I'm a Charmander
She's a Squirtle, I'm a Charmander
Char, char!
I doubt there is a chance
We're of different types
Maybe I'm the rare candy
That she likes, likes, likes
I will follow her
A subject of her spells
Until we evolve
Into something else
Repeat chorus

Don't worry, Hug, I claim YAIL. It's either my #3 or #4 from the album, and it's my future wedding song.
But damn. I feel odds stacking against me with both Hug and Skill on the judging panel.

Any judge that is willing to let who your favourite artist is cloud their judgement of your writing ability has an opinion that should be meaningless and they're a useless judge.
I know Huga will put his opinions aside <33

Hugamari and GotSkill will drag you if you stan for rivals of their faves. Your only choice is to convert.

Name (what should we call you?): Moony, Moon, Moonchild, TheGreatestThing, TGT or sexy. Any of those are fine.
Songwriting experience: I've written one song. I'm here because songwriting interests me and I would like to learn about it and myself.
PH experience: This will be my first season participating in PH!
Favorite artists: Lady Gaga, Cher, Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Britney Spears, ABBA, Frank Sinatra, Utada Hikaru, Perfume, Stephen Sondheim (and lots of musical theater composers), Nobuo Uematsu (and lots of video game composers)
I'm not a stan, but I really enjoy Taylor's songwriting, too.
Songwriting style: As I've only written one song, I can't say. I think I'll be most inclined toward pop, since that's mostly what I listen to.
Favorite drag queen album: It changes, but probably Beauty Marked, Glamazon, Till Death Do Us Party, Anus or The Inevitable Album.

What's really interesting is that I listen to a lot of R&B and yet I only managed to write one or two R&B songs last season, I found it surprisingly hard to write.
Instead I actually ended up doing a lot of synth pop styled stuff. It can be interesting where your writing takes you.
