It's an anonymous board divided in different sub-boards : politics, music, anime & manga, finance, r9k etc. Since it's anonymous and moderated very very loosely (to say the least), you see all kinds of stuff that wouldn't be tolerated on most forums (ex: 'fa*****', 'n*****' etc thrown around). A lot of it is just trolling though.
He wasn't even a student. Same thing happened at UCLA except it was just one girl. The guy and his friend killed her. They didn't even go to UCLA. Can't campuses check for student IDs? Like what's the point of spending all this money for education if we can't get security.
Your opinion is the first step towards a non-democratic state. While the 2nd amendment is problematic, the US is lucky enough to have the 1st amendment which it should cherish, especially when you see how 'freedom of expression' is treated in Europe (i.e : freedom to express liberal opinions only).
