Missy is so unnecessary. Onika would have been a better choice imo.

I agree Black Eagle would have been a better title, but I now see that Conversations in a Cafe wouldn't fit it at all. I love the lack of interludes. I like their use on past albums, but I think in her later work she relied on them as a crutch to make the albums seem more cohesive than they albums. The built in interludes here feel organic and the album speaks for itself as a body of work.

This album proves that she was so uninspired and have nothing to sing about post Damita Jo... Now that she has lived her life for the past few years and going through some stuff. Now she has something to talk about and we now have a great album. lol

Janet is not that artist that can put an album out every year and just make random songs. She has to sing about where she's at in life at the moment and be real about it.

I just think she was in another state of her life, more light and frivolous. She wanted to talk about easier topics, like love, sex, and fun. Don't forget about the Jermaine influence on her music during 20YO and Discipline Era...

I'm thrilled with this album, but I'll never disown Discipline or Damita Jo.

I'll never disown Damita Jo, but I'll happily disown most of Discipline. She had no connection to that album and didn't write anything on it. You could tell it was something she did out of obligation, not out of desire to record it. At least with 20 YO, you got the sense she wanted to record it and she just went wrong by allowing Jermaine to be involved.
