Yeah, but nobody will credit him for it because his music was no-substance party music while everyone else's subject matter was more deeper and depressing. T-Pain pioneered the style, not Kanye. Kanye just popularized the style and made it ok for hip hop. Before that album, a rapper making a whole album of singing moody songs was unheard of. Yep, I remember 808s was met with a lot of "selling out" criticisms and what not.
I think Kanye opened up the doors for it to be used in hip hop and Drake is the one who really accelerated its popularity in 2009-early 2010s.
The irony of T-Pain not being given credit for it is that he's actually a really good singer without it. Kanye and Drake can barely sing, if at all, without autotune.
