Idk, Scream Queens' pilot was kinda sucky, but there's plenty of shows where the pilot sucks, and it gets much better.

If they put the show next to Empire it wouldn't have bombed in ratings.

They put some TERRIBLE detective show's pilot before Empire and it did 8M viewers despite having generally negative reviews.

They also aired a commercial during Empire that SQ would have a pilot encore, and it did half the views the original pilot airing did based off that.

Some shows are made to be nothing more than mindless entertainment. I'm not watching SQ, or Love and Hip Hop, or Real Housewives for thought-provoking drama. I'm watching for an entertaining mess. Empire is only made for white people to get their life and feel "down".
