I don't see why they should be compared, they don't really have anything in common besides having black female leads.

Generally speaking a show will premiere high then fall and stabilize at a certain level. Empire is a unique show, the ratings kept rising every week. That's basically never happened before.

I love both shows. Though I will say that Lee Daniels is a cooning ass coon so I expect him to **** up Empire eventually.

I'm just curious why Empire is rising. HTGAWM is much more unique. I love both shows too. I was just thinking HTGAWM deserves amazing ratings... Maybe because of the timeslot?

Empire is the exception, not the norm. No other show is rising like Empire, not just HTGAWM.

I'd also say Empire appeals to a wider cross-section of people due to the subject matter. Pretty much the only show I can think of that straight men, straight women, gay men, and gay women are equally excited about.

Premiere is 10pm EST, so 1 hour and 15 minutes from now. There's probably a stream somewhere, can't help you on that though.
