She could have easily gone with a deluxe (Target) track like New Romantics -- a song that would have sold much more well than WD (since it wasn't tied to the standard edition), but instead she went with a choice that could have potentially missed the top ten.

So yes, it is a risk.

The point must be made that she is the first ever artist to wholly and unabashedly make the country-pop transition. Several make her brand of pop-influenced country, several openly crossover while clinging to the country base. Think of the monster female country-pop crossovers: Dolly, Faith, Shania, Carrie, LeAnn Rimes. None of them ever said "I am no longer country. I have now released a pop album." the way Taylor has. That is innovative and risky.
