It just IS obvious. There's no way an album like The Fame, that is boring and lacks variety, can be better than flawless In the Zone and Blackout.

I haven't listened to The Fame all the way through so I won't criticise it but nothing can compare to In The Zone's diversity. Every track could almost be its own genre but it still flows together like its one. THAT'S what makes it a masterpiece. Only album comparable in that sense is Stripped.

But Bobby, that's a whole different thing. It's one thing to work with the same producers. Another is when that producer uses the same beats for several songs. I hope you get what I'm saying.

And in terms of impact, Britney will always be superior. Even a few of her albums are head and shoulders above The Fame, but it's not really fair to compare a new artist to an established one anyways. Britney has been handheld her entire career and GaGa seems a bit more ambitious than that. Even though I love Britney far more, I think it's only fair to acknowledge that difference.
|
The Fame is the best album of 2008. But hey, that's my opinion. I totally agree with you that it's not right to compare them. That's actually one of the reasons why comments such as 'GaGa is more to music than Britney' are disastrous.
As for Britney being handheld, that's guessing, and I think In The Zone is something that discredits your assumption. Although, yes, all singers answers basically 99% to their labels/managers when they begin their careers. It's hard for me to think GaGa's an exception, and once again, I'd say you could be only guessing on what concerns her behaviour.
That said, I hope you're not counting Britney's last two years, including the conservatoship as part of your example. I believe you weren't.

LMFAO. But don't bother. Let NorMal and the, well, hundreds of PMs he claims to have received alone.

Okay. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lady Gaga and will agree she is obviously a bit more headstrong in her career right now, but these are TWO different eras. Britney was what, 15 years old when recording ...Baby One More Time? What control could she have had??? Gaga who has been developing underground is in an era where it's easier to have control of your own work, not to mention older than Brit was. When Britney hit 18 we saw her begin to take control with Britney. OBVIOUSLY had 100% input into In The Zone, and was executive producer of Blackout. Circus regardless of how it seems she had no input, Britney was in the process completely. The tour is the most obvious sign of that. All of the producers that SHE chooses and works with have complemented her on how in depth she is in the process of recording. So basically she was only "spoonfed" the first couple years of her career.
I expected the type of comments that have been said from some new members who know nothing but not from "veterans" Nor or Bobby.
As for this thread, like Recess said earlier we don't even know what the hell this means, yet you all are ******** BRICKS over it.

i m sorry but as much as i like brit brit, she s the definition of NO CONTROL IN CARREER,
she s got a professionnal and smart marketing crew, but you can feel she doesnt have a word to say for her artistic direction especially since she went crazy the last years...

Get off your high horse. It's sad how much it irks you when people make valid criticisms of Britney. You do realize she's more successful than either GaGa or Katy will ever be, right? And I don't let that bother me. It's not a lot to ask for a little respect from you, Rico, or Alex.
Anthony, thank you for responding in a civil manner. I agree with your post.

I can't respect someone discrediting Britney's obvious creative, artistic, and overall input into her career and albums. Again, maybe if someone ignorant said it I wouldn't care, but not from people who usually have very good opinions and analysis. As of you recently you flip flop through opinions on Britney. You use Circus as an excuse to bring about the "handheld" opinion, when that is truly unfair in point.

Rico, please, I'm always consistent on Britney. You're just a selective reader. I admire the amount of clout she carries in the industry, and I'm a proud of owner of both ITZ and Circus. I think she's one of the very few celebrities with their hearts in the right place and she has a fantastic work ethic.
However, I personally feel like most of her music, her image, her tours, etc. are cultivated for her, not by her. That's what I perceive and you can't argue that with me. It's not like I don't respect her, but I also don't pretend she's infallible either.
This "new genre" may be something totally left-field for her, but based on what I read in the article, it sounds awfully familiar to what GaGa is doing. So sue me for pointing that out.

Rico, PLEASE. You said all of that to say what? I don't think I said otherwise, so don't toss my name into your responses. All I said was that I prefer Gaga's music to Britney. I didn't my time spent on the board had meant I had to worship Britney like everyone else.
