Especially in a 2 party system, there is no chance of new party rising up and putting up people to become a presidential candidate. Even in the more true forms of democracy where random new parties can get 20+% of the votes, they are still blocked off by the other 70+%.

The negative image of muslim extremists wanting to implement the Sharia prevents people from voting on muslims.

The existing 2 parties keeps filtering people at marketability. Any hints towards Sharia will spark irrational fears, thus the existing parties won't risk that. The suitability of presidential candidate isn't only based on politics. The average Joe watching TV wants a good father figure to be the big dad of Amurica.

e.g. Reagan's campaign was basically "If there is a big bear [Russia] roaming around your house/farm, a good dad would arm himself and when necessary, blast the bear into another world with a shotgun.".

Christianity originated in the Middle East but it developed largely in Europe. The ancient Greeks, Romans and Germanic cultures had a profound impact on Christianity.

Actually, Islam does come with a culture. So yeah, it can dictate the politics you believe in. Like I said, if said Muslim can seperate his religion from his political views and decisions, then he should be fit to become president.

Well, if we look at our aociety now in most developed countries it is heavily based around the religion that is currently in power. The UK and the US is heavily based around christianity and ethics found in that religion.

I don't give a **** what relgion someone is in power but they shouldn't force their own person beliefs as the law of the land. I would prefer a more neutral president.

What is this post supposed to mean? The nations under Sharia Law (are there any besides Saudi Arabia, by the way, and where it is actually implemented all the time?) are not democracies. The US is a democracy, and discrimination of people based on race and religion is incompatible with democracy

The requirements to be a president do not include being Christian or not being Muslim, so an American Muslim could be as fit for the job as a Christian, atheist or Buddhist.
