Can someone enlighten me on UK charts?

Specificallly

1) What is an A list appearance and why does it help the song
2) What's the significance of Radio 1 & Capital FM
3) Has it even been reeased there yet?? And if not, will its debut be its peak? (it seems like this happens a lot in the UK)

I'm so dumb when it comes to UK charts.

I'm so dumb when it comes to UK charts.

1.) A List means it gets the most spins on Radio 1, therefore more people hear it/buy and stream it.
2.) Tying in with #1, Radio 1 is the most popular radio station in the UK. Capital FM is the second most popular, I think.
3.) She released it straight away back in July, which was stupid. It reached a new peak this week.

Also, radio doesn't count towards our charts.

Thanks. So the hope is that streaming and sales will increase due to more airplay.

Lemme see where it is on Shazam. That's a good indicator as to how the GP is responding to a song. They don't have UK callouts, do they? I'd think not because airplay doesn't matter as much.

And no I don't think we do, I've never heard of a callout before. Is that when people state to the radio that they like the song or not?

Yes, callouts are weekly national surveys where people are asked whether they a) are familiar with a song and b) if they are, if they like it and/or are tired of hearing it. The scores have a large influence on how songs do on radio.

We don't have callouts I don't think.

And radio has no weight in the charts, but Capital FM in particular can make a song happen on it's own, they play about 10 songs on constant repeat so the audience reach for each song is huge. Songs from artists no one cared about here have gone Top 3 just because of Capital. They're smaller than Radio 1 but tbh they have a bigger impact.

So it is pitch black outside, almost 3am, I just finished my homework () and I played this song and it was great.

I got the guy I'm dating (who hates everything) to like this song. We were making food at like 3 in the morning and I decided to put this song on & he actually liked it & asked who sang it & what it was called.

I also done the honourable thing of adding it to his Spotify playlist. I'm sure he won't mind.

I'm so glad this is gaining success here, the GP is here for it it seems. American radio their flop taste.
