I'm actually really surprised people are saying it's better than UV. I mean, WC, FK, OM, SOB, & BB are all superior to everything on Honeymoon except TLY imo (though I haven't heard 24 & BD). The melodies were stronger, and the instrumentals more cohesive and effective at setting a mood.

This is a more accessible album, so generally that is why it will get more praise from ATRL (people here always dragged UV despite it clearly being her best album critically).

You couldn't describe my feeling better about this album. It's a nice record but it's not on par with Lana's past releases sadly (for me). And also agree Terrence Loves You is the best song along with Blackest Day and Swan Song for me. I feel the production overall seems tacky or simply doesn't flow very good especially on Freak. I like her mood on the songs but I feel in some songs (not all of them) the melodies are kinda weak or lazy. UV for me was her mos cohesive work and really suited her voice overall.

Also is it me or in Swan Song's intro around 0:26 you can hear the outro of HBTB

Lana ain't on the same level as a songwriter like some other female singers that I consider the greatest (Kate Bush or PJ Harvey), but she doesn't have to be anyway.Her feelings on UV are genuinely felt and captured.

However, I like her new confidence on HM. Almost nobody has pointed out here so far that she doesn't portray herself on this record as a victim of a bad guy. She is in charge. That is quite refreshing and her voice never sounded better than on HM.

So far I'm also finding the melodies extremely flat and weak on most of the songs. It took me a while to like some of her songs though, so perhaps they'll end up growing on me after a few listens.

No, the production UV is easily her best. Auerbach really succeeded in taking an idea and fully realizing it in an instrumental. Everything was so purposeful. The production on this album is not as competent. Some of the tracks meander and you sort of wonder why they even exist.

Anyway, I just remember when UV was out and how almost everybody hated it and the HEAT WAS ON.
By now it is almost a given that when a new record of hers it's out, the reactions will drift from sensational to awful, depends where you stand with LDR and that her fans are very strongly attached to one of her previous records so that it is hard to let go.

So strange to see people liking UV now all of a sudden.
