I watched the 7/11 performance and was disappointed. During the best part, starting from don't you drop that alcohol she just stood there lip-syncing, I was expecting her to go IN, especially at that part.

If the rest of the show was like that, I'm not surprised the crowd was bored.

The Beyst is a great performer, she doesn't do it for me for some reason though, I don't know if it's the songs or what. The production in that Made In America concert was A+. The problem with her is that you feel like it's the exact same concert over and over again every single time

Interesting. Metacritic lists an 80 from the Guardian for their review of The Truth About Love but the linked review has a 2/5 star score. Someone should e-mail MC. EDIT: oop apparently the 2/5 star review linked was reposted from the Observer. There's a separate review from The Guardian that they didn't link that's 4/5 stars.

Sure they do? Mariah, Ariana, Taylor Swift all found their way onto prominent year-end albums lists in just the last year, while pretty much everyone else has found their way onto singles lists at least once. Pink...hasn't.

I wouldn't say she commands much respect from critics at all, even by pop star standards.

Most of Britney's early singles would have gone #1, since they either weren't released physically or the radio was snubbing her.

I think Love On Top might have finally been live, because the notes were very rough and she didn't go that high.

It's not just me, the Hive was complaining about the crowd all night. Most were just standing there (not with their phones) looking disinterested. She tried many times to get the crowd involved and they barely made any noise. She could not wait to get off the stage and end that awkward show. Y'all doing the most. If the teens now who are digital forces And don't get huge radio play barely have any #1s then it wouldn't have been much different for Brit. Taylor had 1 #1 prior to her Pop Radio support for 1989, Justin is getting his first #1 and 1D has 0 #1's. Toxic & Oops could've gone #1 but the rest might not.

Taylor is the only one in that list with non-negligible year-end list appearances. That is, she is the only one that has ever landed in the top 50 year-end albums by an aggregate of year-end lists, and exclusively with 1989, despite all of her albums being well-reviewed and Fearless winning far more awards.

If you want to hone in on single lists, The Truth About Love was featured prominently on Robert Christgau's year-end list, who is the most well-known music reviewer in the west.

Other examples of albums that have made the aggregate top 50 year-end list:

Adele (21)
Lady Gaga (The Fame Monster)
Beyonce (4, BEYONCE)

Pretty much any other contemporary major female artist you can think of hasn't: Pink, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, Fergie.

And they have many 70+ well-reviewed albums among them.

Digital market would mean that teens could actually buy Britney's singles, which usually wasn't the case back then (only BOMT, FTBOMBH and Stronger were released physically).

That might have brought her album sales down a bit though.

It still felt really similar to the other shows tbh. I guess it's because she's such a good performer she gets higher standards, because if someone untalented would have done something 10% as good as the Beyst they would had claimed it was the best performance of all time.

That's the disadvantages of being great & very talented.
