WHY do people think that BTW is the best album of the decade? It's messy and full of filler. Maybe it's because I was a fan of hers before it came out? I feel like a lot (not all, but a majority) of those who are big fans of the album became GaGa fans when the album came out?
Is it nostalgia or what? It's not that great of an album. I know a lot of people agreed with my point of view when it was released, as well. It's messy and quite frankly strange and confusing to listen to. Especially songs like The Queen, Judas, &etc. I mean I was only 17 when it came out, but still.

There's literally not a single song that fits the definition of "filler" on Born This Way. You could call it messy sure, but that's the point. It's meant to be rough and explosive.
The only reason people hated on it at the time were because it was so different to what she had released already. Even TFM as acclaimed as it was, can't be called anything other than electropop. BTW took her to places she'd never revealed to the public before and it made a lot of her bandwagoners uncomfortable so they jumped onto the next thing (Lana). Same thing happened to Lana with Ultraviolence when they abandoned ha.
