It's one of my five faves from the year so far.
The issue with The Weeknd's album is that it's overlong and a bit aimless. Wildheart is much more coherent. Furthermore, Beauty Behind the Madness is genuinely just a basic pop album that uses spacious soundscapes and R&B/urban production flourishes to mask the fact that nothing too interesting is going on musically. Anywho... my faves are Real Life, Losers, Often, Acquainted, and Shameless.
Beauty is about a 3/5 and Wildheart is a 4/5 imo.
I'm pleasantly surprised.
