There's nothing wrong with generic but she doesn't
need generic. She's already proven that she can be the generic pop star, Teenage Dream is literally the pinnacle of what there is to be achieved with that sound. She doesn't need to prove herself in that area anymore.
She is, however, yet to prove her artistic credibility in the eyes of music critics and the GP. I wouldn't mind another generic pop era but it really would add nothing to her career and imo would just be a waste of 2-3 years of her career (writing, recording, releasing, promoting and touring).
