Dope is more raw and emotional. The messy almost crying vocals and the stupid enunciations are all intentional. She is supposed to sound on the brink of a meltdown and at her lowest. Dope did it's job. Monsters only hate it cuz despite heavy youtube views and promotion it didn't sell more than 60k.

All of the songs on Artpop except for Donatella have great elements to them. But most of them are ruined by weird vocals, or lyrics, or both. And then some of them should never be on the same album. The whole album is a warning against trying to do too much at once.

I played it for my alt listening masc bisexual boyfriend who represents the GP and he liked it, said it was the best Gaga song he'd heard.

Do What U Want, Fashion & GUY are the only songs that sound complete to me. And I kinda love Venus for its tackiness. Sex Dreams, Manicure & Applause could be excellent but minor elements are holding them back. Dope is ok. Aura, Mary Jane Holland, Swine all have great chorus'/pre-chorus' but terrible verses. Artpop is a good song but the lyrics make no sense and the whole artpop concept is annoying so it has to go. Donatella, Gypsy & Jewels and Drugs are..... lol

All in all an album that has great moments but there was a LOT of fat to be trimmed

Do What U Want sounds incomplete tbh. The vocal mastering needed a bit more.
