So yes his impact in the said places and the capability to reach those demographics speaks volumes as far as his ''critical acclaim'' goes.
Acclaimed critically is not just based on how many ''positive US'' or even English-speaking reviews you have. Its the entire spectrum and Madonna will never reach MJ's level globally.
All the publications you have mentioned are US-based and US-only and that is really not an accurate image of how WELL-ACCEPTED and received his musical opus was/is.
And even so with the EXTREMELY narrow/US-centric view of ''critical acclaim'' and ''awards'' and such you have he still beats her.

Yes, these lists and reviews (just like ATRL) are US centered/ oriented on anglophone artists and readers.
But the point you are so comfortably omitting is that Madonna is one of very rare artists that reached the global superstar status.
Examples? She is widely known on every continent. In 80s she and MJ were one of very few artists who managed to widely reach people living under communist regime even though their music was banned in those countries. Or more recently, Iranian president Ahmadinejad terminated nuclear programs after watching her Super Bowl performance. Israel halted its plans on possible conflict with Iran because of her 2012 concert. Many countries call their biggest pop stars their Madonna (Aji Jihu is known as Chinese Madonna, Namie Amuro and Minako Honda are known as the Japanese Madonna by Japanese press, Brenda Fassie, the famous anti-apartheid figure and singer from South Africa was dubbed The Black Madonna, Gloria Trevi Mexican Madonna and so on and on). Thats just the tip of the iceberg. Do you even understand this kind of impact?
You tried to claim that MJs appeal is much more global, but you forgot how enormous and astonishing is Madonnas global appeal, which is very rare. In reality, only very few artists (including MJ) managed to cross so many cultural and language barriers and achieved fame on such a global scale as Madonna. Considering all of this, your comment doesnt make any sense at all.
