SHICD has always been in my lower half of TFM, I never knew it was so loved on ATRL/among Monsters until last year, I think. I still gave it a good score though.
I really did not enjoy GGGB. I don't really like Rihanna pre-Loud though.
It was my first pop album, but I've only ever liked its singles. GGGB has her best set of singles; Umbrella, Disturbia, TAB, DSTM, Rehab are all 10/10, and SUAD, IINSYFA, HTILY are all passable. And Rated R is her only good album.
Post-Loud Rihanna has yet to deliver more than 3 songs per album that I've liked.

She kinda reminds me of Cher that way (sorry Citrus). Both have very distinct voices, too.
I very low-key stanned Rihanna since her debut but I honestly can't remember what a lot of Rated R sounds like. It was such a non-event album to me for whatever reason. I think "Rude Boy" was the only hit from the album here (like, the others weren't even minor hits like in the US ) I think Russian Roulette and Te Amo scanned Gold, but that was mainly due to lead single hype and post-Rude Boy hype.
I started listening to pop music in 2009 because of Rihanna, and my fave was Disturbia so I was used to her dark-pop sound and ate it up when RR dropped. Then I listened to the OGITW premiere and was horrified by such a blatant pop song. But now it's like my fave single of hers.
Funny how Rihanna and Gaga got me in to pop music just 6 years ago and now I barely care about them and neither is even able to put an album out.
I like Teeth though, even though it's panned by everyone.
The hate is so undeserved. It's one of the "weaker" tracks (I gave it an 8.5) but it's still a really solid track. I have to be in the right mood to listen to it and really love it, though.
oh yeah, Rated R was a non factor here. Rude Boy was a decent hit and the album sold okay since the UK eats up anything by Rih and she was coming off GGGB, but the songs didn't impact us much.
Déjà Vu, Ring The Alarm, Upgrade U (the song low key smashed even tho it was never a single because it's just that good), Flaws & All and Resentment.
