That is likely due to this being a country lead single. Most of them want more a pop single from her. If that is what they are after, they are never going to get it. This album will be full of country storytelling songs

I don't expect people to like it on the first shot. Hopefully maybe a few more listens will convince them. Trust me, a few more listens can change an opinion.
Plus it is because it's not like Good Girl or Cowboy Casanova or as uplifting as Something in the Water (even plenty of criticized the poor thing), but the one thing they need to realize is... It isn't their album.
SB is better than both GG and CC imo. Even a fart is better than CC so that's not difficult, but I really appreciate that SB is less shouty than GG was. GG is just a lot of vocal acrobatics (it's a good song though, just a bit too heavy) while SB has a big bombastic chorus and more subdued verses
