There hasn't been a mainstream release better than Ultraviolence. Obviously there are great acts, like Lykke Li, who **** all over anything the radio has ever processed but music that good is too artistic for the general public to digest. Sigh. When will Lykke's next album be out? I'm tired of waiting already.

When it comes down to it, I respect music for being boundary pushing and refreshing. Of course music doesn't always need to be progressive, anyone can enjoy music and not respect the music.

I mean, I like Becky G and Nicki Minaj. Lana Del Rey.

The entire album is produced by a rocker. It would be delusional for anyone to call it anything but, sans for a few songs. The album was just so gritty - so raw. Lana embraced her flaws as a lyricist to show us how much she really hurt and how tormented she was. The simple guitar production was amazing. Not everyone can do that.
