Maybe helped short term but it would have damaged her long term as it would have been harder for her to present a more mature image down the road and people would have basically typed cast her as the "innocent girl next door".

Also to the member who said it would have made a big difference in the era's overall sales you have to remember Britney was blacklisted from radio basically up to Gimme More, Cinderella may have peaked higher than Slave but none of the singles from Britney were going to have huge peaks.
