I don't think Charlie doesn't deserve a shot at stardom though, he made it the way songwriters should make it: by writing an inedible melody. Say what you want about "See You Again" but the melody is really distinctive and it was meant to smash.

I was thinking precisely this. The newest crop of pop artists is among the most charmless and personality-free that I've ever seen. I'm hoping this isn't the beginning of some trend.
