i doubt its an apple music error. I mean, why now? and why werent other songs affected?
And the song is obviously dropping next week, shes not a singles driven artist so this debuting in the top 10 is enough of an accomplishment. I don't even like her and i can admit that
Hypotheses (I'm sure we'll talk about this at length tonight during the podcast)
- As Sazare said, this could have something to do with an Apple Music error, where perhaps if a song was added to someone's library, it was counted as a purchase.
- Nielsen has had major problems reporting streaming data recently, so perhaps they've had some problems with reporting HBTB's sales figures this week.
I honestly have no idea. The biggest chart mystery of 2015 for me...
Definitely very, very suspicious. I can't even think of another song to debut with 200k+ and end up nearing outside the Top 60 on iTunes just a mere 5-6 days later. I'm guessing Billboard will clarify this during the week.
Lana probably sold it all in the first couple of days. I think iTunes was just broken and Lana had a bigger lead than we thought initially or perhaps this coincided with a rule change on the charts.
Someone logically explain how a song sold that much but is now out of the Top 50?
west coast sold enough to debut in the top 20 and fell out of the hot 100 the following week. It's literally the exact same run but with a bigger start. Is it unexpected? yes. completely unfeasible? its really not that far out
The obvious inflation, the shameless payola, the clear chart-trickery to make it seem as though Lana's still relevant. Anyone who genuinely believes these #s are real needs to be checked into a mental hospital. I can't!
I honestly think this only reinforces the fact that these numbers are probably real. Who wanted to buy the song, already did. The sales are pretty front-loaded but ain't nobody denying that. She's not a singles artist anyway
