Youtube would be alright if they cracked down on it a bit and left Vevo and fan covers as the only music there. I can listen to basically any full length album of any artist on it.
Doesn't spotify like never make any profit? How much longer can they keep it up. If they made more money then labels artists and themselves could be satisfied but they can't.
Digital downloads is the only right way from the business point of view and much more gratifying morally speaking when you own the songs you listen to.

If you want to see a movie, you buy a theatre ticket, buy/rent a DVD, or stream it on a paid streaming service... If you want to go to a museum or gallery, you almost always pay to enter (the Smithsonians are an exception, but they're publicly funded)... If you want more than basic cable televisions, you pay a higher price... If you go to a theatre production or a stage show, you pay for a ticket.
But if you want a song or album on your iPod playlist, you illegally download it or stream it on a free medium.
It devalues the art (and all music is art, regardless of its quality). It's disrespectful to the songwriters, producers, vocalists, etc who created it. I know most of the money's going to the label or whoever, but that's beside the point. If you're not buying music or using a paid streaming service, you're disrespecting the people who created the music that you listen to.

And why do art needs to be expensive or have a cost?
Now-a-days pretty much anybody can upload their music somewhere and start a career out of that. Back in the day that was never an option.
It's stupid to want the benefits of the past + the current benefits with technology without compromising something. A musician doesn't need to be rich.

Yeah but music is so much easier to pirate than films are. It kinda sucks for the music industry but it is what it is

Why does Zayn put a space between words and an exclamation point? I seriously worry about the British education system.

Yes, they upload a song and make 10 cents for the 100k streams they might get if they are lucky while dolts on the internet get a Youtube audio downloader and enjoy his music for free. Get real, the man made music, a product and he provided it with the price he deemed it was worth. If you don't think that the song is worth paying that price for don't pay but to download it illegally is nothing but outright theft

Calvin feuding with Katy, Gaga and now Zayn. He and Taylor are a match made in heaven. The most passive-agressive couple in the industry.

It's weird how people are so willing to pay for Netflix but not Spotify. They need to put more restrictions on standard Spotify (a listening limit and no mobile devices would be a good start).

That model of the 1999s record company that does all the job doesn't work anymore. Artists need to make themselves brands.
I don't want to make the Britney fans living in 1999 joke sis, you know I love you.
