I honestly hate this "Taylor Swift is helping indie artists" argument so ****ing much. I stan for so many unknown bands / artists and they've been just fine and none of them ever cared about their music being bought/streamed/pirated, they only want their music to be heard. Be quiet, Tiffany
Calvin needs to take a several seats.... The most of the musicians have a good life and earn nice money... the rest are either not interesting or have a bad managment... I don't mind Taylor but she and her boyfriend need to stop with this streaming drama... When someone wants to buy your record..they will buy it...if someone can't afford to pay $20 for new CD..they have to find other ways to listen to music....literally rich people problems... of course you can pull Taylor and sell extra 2mil records but is it worth it?..and does it make you extra proud??
This. The more people has access to your music the better for NEW artists. They get gigs, they get endorsements, and etc... If you put music behind a paywall it only benefits high profile musicians.
Yes. That's perfectly right. I have discovered so many indie and small bands and artists on Spotify that I would have never heard otherwise. Artists can't depend on radio because it is a closed market for a lot of them whereas Spotify and the likes are open platforms which provide artists a stage to be heard.
