It's because it influenced a lot of pop songs that came after it. Back in 2007, nobody was pulling this sound (except Madonna's COADF and Kylie's Fever eras).
So..really nothing special or revolutionary? Got it
Also is it just me or does 80s music feel more remembered than 90s
Definitely! I feel like grunge and bubblegum pop are the only memorable things to come out the 90's and the bubblegum pop trend is generally seen as the death of music.
It did sound a lot more urban though thanks to Danja.
it was the transition from the Nelly F./Fergie/Gwen Stefani era to the Lady Gaga/Katy Perry/Rihanna era.
Yeah. It sounds like your typical Danja productions. That's why I don't really see what the big deal is. Plus Loose and FS/LS had already did that before Britney anyway.

For some reason, a lot of radios around the USA like to pretend the huge R&B shift in the 90s never happened and that bubblegum pop and the revivals of rock and punk were all that mattered.

Kind of awkward since FS/LS is and was SO much more successful than the commercial bomb Blackout.
