That would give us a:
new decade low for #1 by a 17k margin. Last song to be as low/lower: Beautiful Girls 8 summers ago with 124k, then that February with This Ain't a Scene's 101k.
new decade low for #2 by a 8k margin. Last song to be as low/lower: Poker Face in 2009 with 119k. Then Pushin' Me Away the year before with 116k.
new decade low for #3 by a 13k margin. Last song to be as low/lower: How Far We've Come in September 2007 with 87k. Then a few weeks earlier with Rockstar's 76k.
Sorry to those who vocally show hate towards me for having stats that are "utterly useless/meaningless" about which I'm "like the only person in the entire world who cares."
Next year, or as soon as later this year, we'll see a #1 below 100K.
i don't think so. the reason the #1's sales are so bad right now is that the charts naturally go through periods where there aren't many big hits around. for example, sales were almost at their peak in late 2011, and the #1 on digital songs sold 149,000 one week. but it also goes through periods of high sales, like earlier this year where there were multiple songs selling 200k at once, or in 2014 when shake it off and all about that bass were both selling 270,000+ for multiple weeks. another huge hit will come and our #1's numbers will rebound (maybe drag me down after the release of the video, or locked away? or some pop girl releasing a new single? we'll have to wait and see), and then there will be another down period, but i doubt it'll go down much farther than this one. i mean, the worst period in 2014 had a #1 with 143,000, which isn't that much higher than this year's.
