If it's true then it kinda backfired judging on the current sales figure
Let's just say,
The Sims = The Fame
The Sims 2 = The Fame Monster

And that comparison seems fair
Like you're underwhelmed by the whole experience and then a moment like Aura happens where suddenly so much happens at once, that it starts to slay you that your Sim can eat Cereal, while gaining a skill from cooking from watching the cooking channel, while running on a treadmill building athletic skill, while listening to the stereo building music skill and keeping up with another Sim nearby boosting social. You don't really know what's going on, but it slays in an otherwise flatlined experience
And yeah, EA thought if they released a game that would work on any PC, people would get into the series, and then charge them double when The Sims 5 comes out looking amazing. Like, it's very clear, and that dev said what we were all thinking anyway
