Does anyone know where I can find a cute Mariah avi?
I could try to make you one! Which era or video or scene would you like to use?
Actually I made this one for myself a while back when I was planning on turning over a new leaf from getting banned, but it never panned out so I stuck with my current more shady one hehe. You can use it if you would like though -

YASSS. My recent banning cleansed most of my wp's so I'm down to only 2. Ready to drag if necessary. Unlike some of the Mimi haters though I never start dragging or shading unless provoked of course.

Aw, you're so sweet! Could you possibly make me one starting at 2:50?
saying that Mariah lacks artistry would be as if anyone would say Michael was a mediocre dancer..
Mariah composes her own songs, writes the lyrics, produces her songs. Vision of Love was a song she already had on her demo tape before she was signed to sony. Every single composer she has worked with cites her influence and involvement in the songwriting process. She is no Beyoncé or (name another current star) who "write their own music"... Mariah is a songwriter/songwriter who has also written hitsingles for other artists than herself. She wrote her own material before she was signed...17 of her songs that she wrote became #1 singles in the US (from 1990-2008). She has always been a songwriter first and foremost.
Her impact on the music scene in total is very HUGE. As I said before..she doesnt only have commercial success, she has the impact that goes along with it. There are tons of artists who were molded to become the next mariah. Most singers of today cite her as an influence and inspiration. Artsts like Christina, Leona, Kelly Clarkson, Beyoncé wouldnt even be possible without Mariah.
Mariah, Madonna, Whitney and Janet are single handedly responsible for all current female superstars that we see today as they paved the way for each and every one of them. Someone like Beyoncé took the best from the artists above and has massive success with it. Ciara is basically a Janet wannabe (+ name any other R&B wannabe). Evene Rihanna sang the global world anthem that is Hero.
Mariah's impact in the R&B field is evident. Mariah brought the POP/HipHop fusion to the commercial forefront. By the end of the 1990's everyone had a rapper on a hit single on pop radio. Jennifer Lopez' biggest hit (I'm Real) copied Mariah's Glitter song If We bc Tommy Mottola called Ja Rule and said he wanted a song sounding exactly like If We for Jennifer (and then took the sample that Mariah secured for Loverboy).
Nobody can measure quality. What is quality? Getting all kinds of awards? selling well? Mariah does have a pop grammy, a grammy for R&B, a soul train award, BMI Awards etc... in her main genres she won it all.
the singles from her main two global best selling albums (Music Box is the 5th best selling studio album of the 1990's) Daydream and Music Box are song which are still played today, ESPECIALLY in the UK.
Again... Hero went to #7 originally and as a cover peaked at #1. AIWFCIY is one of the best selling singles of all times in the UK and a staple. Before Mariah it wasnt really common to produce christmas albums... nowadays everyone has one...
Mariah's songs have also been featured in Movies, they are referenced, they belong to the cultural canon of today's music history.
Mariah is a contender for the songwriters hall of fame too... she already made the writer hall of fame in New York...
Again, you dont have a career as big as hers when the music sucks. That is not possible. In Mariah's case she had BIG selling albums, then lower selling ones (yes Butterfly at 10,5m is a lower selling one), and then she came back with BIG albums again.
Most artists of today have a career trajectory of peaking with the 1st or 2nd album and then declining, only the legendary five are to name when it comes to lasting impact and the ablity to return to the top of the world: Céline did that, Janet did that - notably in the 90's, Madonna did that, Mariah did that and Whitney did that).
Not including Mariah or anyone of the BIG 5 in any sort of greatest artists list is a shame and ridiculous because they represent a certain music trend that is still predominant in today's music scene. It is like saying.. we dont care for the original.. but the tribute act is kinda good. That is beyond ridiculous.
